- A Crest for the Knights -

Guatemala City, Guatemala

January 3rd, 2013.

Melchior was meditating in his room; it was a very different place from which he had been living – a gothic-themed room with many sports references. There was a large wardrobe, which had one of its doors opened, showing new books, including a grimoire.

His drawers were black and featured some lesser objects, such as wristbands. His desk had some papers and notebooks spread on it, and some notes of either Mathematics or Physics could be seen.
Suddenly, someone knocked his door. Melchior slowly opened his eyes and looked to the nearest clock – it was 5:45 p.m.

“Come in!” Melchior Said happily.

It was Ushuriel, and he had a happy smile in his face.

“Hello, son.” The Vampire Said, and Melchior discretely laughed as his first reply.

“Sorry.” Elemental Alchemist Said. “I am still getting used to it... Father.”

Ushiriel sat near Melchior, holding something in his hands.

“Father... I am getting old.” Ushuriel laughed. “I think I always knew this day would come; I couldn’t be happier, for I finally have something other Undead may never have – a family.”

“I agree with you.” Melchior replied. “I couldn’t be happier as well... Sometimes, it feels as a dream, and I hope it is not.”

“So do I.” Ushuriel replied. “Listen, I think I have something for your group – something which will give you extra powers.”

“Extra powers?” Melchior asked. “What are you talking about?”

“A Crest, Melchior.” Ushuriel Said with a mischievous smile.

“Being the most powerful being of my core has its advantages, my son – I can give you some of Camazotz dark powers to be used to a better purpose. All Vampires can forge Crests, which are used to gather powers, as if you had the ‘Vampire power package’ for a brief moment.”

“So... You are going to upgrade us somehow?” Melchior asked.

“Yes and no.” Ushuriel answered. “See, my powers aren’t bigger than those of the Heart of Guatemala. Even so, I can give you guys na extra share of power, since Anael doesn’t bear all the power to himself. Alas, he chose this way, and I admire that guy. After all, he knows how to give a punch or two, heh.”

Melchior smiled at his father, pleased with his answer.

“So, what do you need to craft one of these Crests?” He asked.

“I alreay bear the materials – a bar of pure gold, a chargable gem of my choice, which will be a ruby and my very own powers. Do you want to see me crafting one of those?”

“Of course!” Melchior happily replied.

Ushuriel smiled at him and asked his son to follow him to the basement, which Melchior had never seen. The basement could be only accessed through a small trapdoor hidden under a large, velvet carpet in the living room, which Ushuriel rapidly opened.

They climbed down the stairs and Melchior could see through the weak light in the room - it was a large alchemy station, with many glasses, strange ingredients, old sheets of paper all scattered on the floor and other things Melchior couldn't identify.

Ushuriel's small forge was on the nothernmost part of the room. Melchior went closer to see the strange, purple anvil and the glowing lilac hammer which Ushuriel was holding. The Vampire gave Melchior a mischievous smile before starting the process.

"Just like Elves have their magical tools, we Vampires own those as well." He explained. "I am one of them main smithers amongst the Vampire core. These tools are made of Tarnished Obsidian, which consists in a magical metal made out of Darkness or Void essences and, of course, Obisidian. Why Obisidian? Because it won't hurt us like metals as Silver or Palladium does. Also, it doesn't turn hot when I place it near fire. Therefore, we are all protected."

"Awesome..." Melchior said amazed. "So... Do you want me to help you?"

"I appreciate, but there's no need." Ushuriel said while pouring the melted gold on a batwing mold. "You see, I am almost done..."

In a matter of seconds, Melchior saw Ushuriel charge a ruby in his hands; he did so by closing his eyes and whispering old enchantments. Then, when the gold was almost cold and solid, he carefully placed the large ruby in the middle of it. Then, Ushuriel took the material out of the mold and gave it to Melchior.

"Here you are." He said. "A Vampiric Crest; it can be absorbed by the Heart of Guatemala and give your friends a taste of Vampiric powers without the need of a bite, so to speak."

Melchior laughed discretely.

"Thanks, father!" He said. "Oh, do you know what day is?"

"Today?" Ushuriel asked. "I think it is January 3rd. Why?"

"Damn it!" Melchior said. "It is Kimi and Kaiser's birthday! I almost forgot it!"

Before Melchior could say something else, his Golden Communicator appeared.

"Melchior?!" It was Anael's voice through the device. "Aren't you coming?!"

"Well, I am!" Melchior said, surprised. "But I forgot where the party is going to be!"

"It is going to be in the Finns' house! Where else do you think we were going to?!" Anael replied. "Come on, we are waiting for you! Get you vampiric ass here as fast as possible, got it?!"

"Yes, Leader..." Melchior replied mischievously. "I got it. I'll be there in a matter of seconds. I got to go. Bye!"

Melchior hung up and looked at his father, waiting for him to say something.

"Go, my child." The Vampire said with a smile. "I'll tell your mother you left. I hope your friends enjoy the gift as much as I enjoyed making it."

Melchior smiled and hugged his father. Before Ushuriel could do anything, Melchior teleported himself out of the basement. Ushuriel looked at the place in which Melchior was standing before and smiled. Then, he left the place and went upstairs.

Kimi and Kaiser's House, Guatemala City, Guatemala - 6:15 p. m.

All the other Knights were in the Finnish twins' house, waiting for Melchior to arrive. At 6:15 p.m., the Elemental Alchemist arrived at the place holding the Vampiric Crest in his hands.

"Hello, folks! Do not cry for me, I am here!" He said in a mocking tone. Then, he bowed at everyone. "Good evening! I come bearing a gift to us all! Before that, of course... Where are the Finns?"

At the moment Melchior called for them, Kimi and Kaiser appeared. Kaiser was wearing a black t-shirt with a Metallica album printed on it, blue jeans, black shoes and a black headband. Kimi was wearing a sleeveless blue shirt with grey jeans and cyan shoes. Also, his hair seemed longer than it used to be - it was held in a french braid whose lenght reached his waist. They ran towards Melchior and hugged him with the biggest smile they ever had.

"Teen sixteen!" Melchior said happily. "Happy 16th birthday, fellows!"

"Kiitos!" Said Kimi and Kaiser simultaneosly. Then, they stepped aside.

"I am really glad you could make it, my friend." Kimi said. "How's your new life going?"

"Pretty well, I must say..." Elemental Alchemist replied. "I finally have everything I always dreamed: a family." Then, he showed them his Vampiric Crest. "This is the gift I was talking about earlier - a Vampiric Crest."

"What does that do?" Thalas asked.

"Well..." Melchior looked to Anael, who understood what the Crest was for. "... Do you want to help me figuring this out, Elite Dragon?"

Anael smiled mischievously, revealing the Heart of Guatemala; his eyes became reptilian-like as he held the Heart by its chains.

"May the Heart provides us the answer!" Anael said. " Corazón de Guatemala!"

When Anael pronounced those famous words, the Crest was involved by a small turquoise Quetzal, which absorbed it. Then, the Quetzal got bigger and involved all Knights in the room, giving them new outfits.

Now, all of them had armors - they were dark with a navy blue glow. Each one of them had details connected to its owner's favourite color. Anael's armor gave him a shield; Thalas' armor had wolf fur in it's upper part; Melchior's armor gave him a staff with a crystal ball and a bat on top of it. Kimi's armor gave him a pair of shields, which could be thrown; Kaiser's armor gave him a new sword; Maya's armor gave her a new staff and a whole new appearance, and Altagracia's armor gave her a new scepter and a place for her Dream Catching Jewel.

The Knights had been revamped, and as it was always supposed to be - together. What was next for them now?

End of Season Seven.

- Bittersweet -

Melchior and the others headed back to Kimi and Kaiser's house. By the time they got there, Anael was already awaiting with Kaiser, and they seemed to be talking about something important.

"... So I think she'll get through it." Kaiser said. "Jasmine is strong; I believe her."

"Well, now we have to go after Melchior and... Melchior!"

It was Anael who spotted Melchior and the group entering the house. Maya and Altagracia were still injured, while Thalas and Kimi were in perfect shape. Melchior seemed hurt, but his wounds were deeper and internal. His heart was grieving.

Kimi and Thalas approached Elemental Alchemist.

"Are you alright?" Thalas asked.

"What did you see in her mind, my friend?" Kimi asked, concerned.

"Everything I needed. Nothing I truly wanted, I guess." Melchior answered in the saddest tone he ever gave them.

"Meaning...?" Thalas asked, confused.

"I don't know..." Elemental Alchemist replied. "I think I... I want to be alone for a moment." Then, he looked at DarkStalker. "Kaiser!" Melchior shouted.

"Yes?" Kaiser replied.

"Are Jasmine and her relatives alright?" Melchior asked.

"Yes, they are." Kaiser replied gloomy. "Well, except for their mother - Ushuriel ended up killing her. Morgan and Jasmine had already left the hospital and they are just fine. Jasmine said she'll keep going to school, but she'll have to start working in order to aid her brother make ends meet."

This reply made Melchior's heart stop for a few seconds - another household destroyed. More lives shattered, and all because of him.

"Poor Louise." Melchior whispered. "She didn't deserve to lose her mother... And poor Satianna; she was a good woman."

"Well..."Kaiser approached Melchior and put his left hand on Melchior's shoulder. "At least they are safe and sound now. Morgan told me they'll eventually pay you a visit, my friend. They helped you and they still will be helping. You have allies and friends, Elemental Alchemist. Never forget it."

That said, Kaiser stepped aside and went to his room. Anael called his sister and left with her. Thalas and Maya left minutes later without saying a word. Kimi stood there with Melchior, whose eyes were closed.

"Do you want to talk?" Kimi asked.

"Sit here." Melchior asked, pointing at the nearest available spot.

Kimi obeyed and sat to the left of Melchior.

"She knew your mother, Kimi. She knew the Elves. She really was, and still is, my biological mother." Melchior said, slightly sad and frustrated. "Her magical goals are almost the same as mine. She tried to study the Dream Walking art as well. I just happened to have it because Cody's soul appeared to me and gave it to me."

"What?" Kimi asked. "How?"

"The Soul Essence." Melchior replied. "That's what it was for: to give the gift of Dream Walking to a non-elf. Well, I am really thankful; hadn't he done it, I'd be dead by now."

"All of us would." Kimi replied. "So... Regarding this matter... How will you proceed?"

Melchior sighed deeply, blinking slowly as he looked to the roof.

"I have no idea." He answered. "I feel lost. I don't know how to proceed; I cannot go back and live with Lucia, but I am not sure if I can try to conquest Mirabelle. I don't even know if I want to take my chances, considering she almost killed all of us..."

"Well... Now you know where you came from. However, keep in your mind that, regardless of what you choose to do next, we will always be here for you. I'll always be here, if you ever need me."

"Kiitos, veli." Melchior said, standing up. "Well, I better get going... It is a long way for me to walk."

That said, Melchior said his farewell to Kimi and left his house. The Finn kept watching him until he disappeared from his line of sight. Then. he closed the door with the saddest countenance.

'She knew your mother, Kimi. She knew the Elves.'

"I think it is the time to pay them a visit." Kimi said.

Eastern Side of Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Three days of walking. Three days of deep thought.

Melchior's walk led him to the largest open market of Guatemala City, in which Anael used to buy his supplies to cook. There, he kept looking at the families nearby. He envied every single one of them, for seeming so happy and unite - things he never knew with Lucia. He was wearing a large, violet hooded mantle, which kept his skin safe from sunlight.

Then, he saw her. A girl about 1,50m, copper-skinned with dark, long, wavy hair and a pair of glasses. She was wearing a coral-colored dress and beige sandals. She was thin, though her hips were slightly wider in proportion. Just one year older than Melchior, she was one of his siblings.

"Alegría?" Melchior asked. "What are you doing here?"

"I thought you might get yourself around here." She said. "I already know. Mom told me the truth - actually, she told Carlos, but I listened anyways. You know I always liked you, don't you?"

"How could I miss it?" Melchior asked with a discrete smile. "You have been always there... To aid me, to comfort me, to hear me... To be my friend as well."

"But I think this ends here, doesn't it?" Alegría asked incredibly sad. "I mean, you are going after her, your real mom, aren't you?"

"Well, living with Lucia was no heaven, I must say." Melchior replied. "I think I have to try. What do I have to lose? Nothing. I was raised in a broken home - I am all broken inside. Her rejection, if it happens again, won't break me. I am stronger than I look."

"I am just asking that because... We are moving away from Guatemala. The circus will no longer be here!" Alegría said at the verge of crying. "Mom doesn't want to tell us where, but I don't want to go. I'll miss you so much, Melchior!"

That said, she hugged him as strong and lovely as she could. Melchior replied the cherish and hugged her the same way, crying.

"I am not as strong as you are, my beloved baby brother." She said in tears. "I don't have anywhere else to go. I cannot stay with you, but I don't want to lose you! What should I do?!"

"You have my cellphone, don't you?" Melchior asked sadly. "You can always call me. You can always count on me. If life with that woman gets to cruel to stand, call me. I'll rescue you wherever you are, whenever you want. Do you understand?"

She nodded her head affirmatively, and Melchior cleaned up her tears and his.

"If you cannot be happy, I'll be happy. For both of us." He said. "I promise you, Alegría. Someday, we'll be together again, and I'll be there with a smile in my face. Live will be kind and fair to us, I know it will be. It doesn't matter how much time it takes, I'll be with you again."

Alegría took her necklace off - it was a simple rope necklace with two turquoise beads and three ruby beads on the center. She put it in Melchior's left hand.

"I'll always be with you. Always. Never forget me, dear Melchior." She said, kissing his lips rapidly afterwards.

She stood up and ran away before Melchior could do anything. He looked at the necklace and put it in his pocket. Then, he went to another direction.

Mirabelle's House, Southernmost Side of Guatemala City, Guatemala

Mirabelle was sitting on the grass outside her house. Ushuriel was nowhere to be seen, for he was sleeping inside his coffin at the basement of the manor. She looked sad and devastated, sighing as she remembered everything she said to Melchior the days before.

"I think it is time for me to leave..." She said to herself. "I should have left him alone. I shouldn't have come after him. I shattered his soul and mind, and what for?"

She heard steps coming from the walls of her manor. She looked up and saw... Melchior. Her heart started to beat faster than it ever bet. She stood up while he approached her. When she was standing on her feet, he was about seven or eight steps away from her.

"Let's see..." Melchior started with a mischievous smile. "I am a Physics master for my age; I am a basketball fanatic, and I usually play it about four times a week. I am a Mathematics wizard, for numbers are no mystery for me... Chicks love me as well - I am a Don Juan, so to speak, yet I am quite womanizer sometimes..." His mischievous smile was going away as his countenance got increasingly sad. "I also have strong tendencies to be a know-it-all, and I refuse to be wrong most of times, yet I am. I am also reckless and I say a lot of nonsense, but..." His voice stopped, for he started crying at that same moment. "I am a good guy! I am a good person... I just want a chance, that's all! You have all the right not to give it to me, but I... I really want it! It need it! I want some piece of mind! Being abandoned and treated like an animal, like a nobody, it's the worst feeling ever... I want to be loved... I want a family..."

He fell on his knees, crying. At that moment, Mirabelle ran towards him and hugged him, holding him tight, with his head on top of her chest. She was crying as well.

"And you will have it." She whispered. "You deserve it. I hope you can accept me... And forgive me for everything. You are my child, Melchior, and I should have accepted the challenge of raising you properly. I will accept this challenge today, if you give me this permanent task."

To Be Continued...

- Nothing Else Matters -

Anael was, at that very critical moment, flying above the Caribbean Sea. He snapped his fingers in order to conjure his Jade Communicator. He rapidly pressed the red button near the top of the device, ready to give instructions.

"Thalas, answer me!" Anael said through the device.

Thalas, at that point, was at Kimi's, reading a book about Vampires. He dropped the book violently on the ground when his Electro Communicator was suddenly summoned and Anael's voice was heard.

"B-bonjour!" Thalas answered. "Have you found Melchior? Is he alright?"

"No and I assume he is not." Anael replied. "Listen to me: Ushuriel discovered our scheme faster than we thought, and thus he came after Melchior. They might have fought there and now they are in Guatemala. Altagracia and Maya must be fighting Mirabelle while we are talking. Go after them and bring Kimi with you. It is an order."

"Yes, I understood." Thalas replied, serious. "But what about Kaiser? Isn't he with you?"

"We split up." Anael rapidly answered. "He asked me to stay in Jamaica to take care of Jasmine and her family. He'll be in Guatemala as soon as he can."

"Jasmine?" Thalas asked, confused. "Who's that one?"

"Jamaican Thunder, don't you remember?" Anael replied. He was smiling as he spoke the name to Thalas. "The strongest girl in the entire world."

"Oh! I remember her!" Thalas answered. "Anyways, I am going to aid the girl as fast as I can. Kimi and I will be there in no time!"

"Awesome." Hissed Anael. "I'll meet you guys there." With that said, he hung off and kept flying as fast as he could. At that moment, he was near the Belize coast, and he didn't have much time left.

***

Melchior was standing there with his fists clenched; Mirabelle showed him her sharp teeth and threw the violet shards.

"You..." She growled. "You were born in January 22nd, I recall it pretty well!"

Melchior stood on his left knee, cleansing the blood which was coming out of his mouth; he was holding a mischievous smile.

"So, I am Aquarius indeed. Lucia didn't lie about that." He commented.

"Yes..." Mirabelle replied, taking a deep breath before charging her hands once more. "It was a cold day, the coldest I've ever witnessed, though it was Winter in Finland."

Mirabelle jumped and threw more shards at Melchior, but Maya was quicker on her response.

"Dark Forcefield!"

Black Witch conjured a violet force filed, which destroyed the wicked shards. Then, it was Altagracia's turn to show her tricks.

"Light Wisp!" She shouted, casting a golden, butterfly-form energy beam towards Mirabelle.

"Too slow!" Mirabelle madly laughed. "Vampiric Shield!"

Dozens of bats appeared and were converted in a bloody-red forcefield, which protected Mirabelle from her foes.

"Ask another question." She said coldly.

"Very well..." Melchior said, taking a deep breath. "I started in the wrong order, I must say. I wanted to ask you how did you find out you were pregnant of me. My next question will come... As soon as I hit you! Fire Raven!"

One of the first signature spells of Melchior - an enormous raven made out of pure fire was cast against Mirabelle, shattering her shield. Then, Maya and Altagracia proceeded to attack. Together. They positioned themselves as if they were a dance couple; Maya pointed her right arm to the front, which was holding Altagracia's left arm. Both o them immediately charged, and threads of golden and silver energy began floating and dancing around them.

"Equilibrium Waltz!" They shouted, throwing a silver and golden jaguar-form energy beam against Mirabelle, who was defenseless.

"CURSES!" Mirabelle screamed before falling brutally on the floor.

Mirabelle was on the ground, trying to stand up as the blood came out from her wounds. Light was injuring her more than she could ever predict. She was giving Altagracia a piercing look, as if she was trying to get the infant killed on a blink of an eye.

"I..." Mirabelle started. "I found out weeks after... To be honest, I didn't show any pregnancy symptoms, except the body changes. I was about seven weeks pregnant when I found out. Any other questions?"

The Warlock was furious; when she stood up, the three Blue Moon Knights could see how badly injured she was - her tights were scratched and wounded and so were her shoulders, arms and the left part of her torso. her dress was torn in several parts, and her face had a long scar in its right side. Blood was coming out of her mouth in a thin line, and the source was an injury on her lower lip.

Melchior was looking at her with pity; yet she was trying to kill him, somehow, he felt sorry for her. She was his mother, though both wanted to deny it.

"Yes." Melchior replied. "I want to know the details of my birth - there must be a reason for you to abandon me."

Mirabelle froze at that moment; her eyes got wider and her face got paler. She tried to formulate an answer, but she seemed far too traumatized to say something.

"Something is wrong in this scenario." Altagracia thought. "She was telling him everything so calmly and apathic. She must have suffered a lot in the day Melchior was born... But... What could be so traumatizing for a Warlock?"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHRGH! LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT!"

The painful scream of Ushuriel drove all attentions to him; his skin was far paler than normal, and he seemed to be boiling, almost burning on that rooftop. At that moment, Electro Archer and Ice Guardian had arrived. It didn't take too long for them to understand the whole context of that scene.

"Thalas!" Kimi shouted. "Release Ushuriel! I am going to aid the others!"

Thalas nodded and ran towards the house. There were some trees near the building, which Thalas used to make his way up to the roof, climbing as fast as he could. When he reached Ushuriel, the Vampire was too weak to say something. His death was near.

"I am going to take these chains off!" Thalas said. "Electro Daggers!"

Electro Archer conjured one dagger, using it to break the silver. He had no difficulties doing so; after he released Ushuriel, he jumped on the roof, breaking it. Then, he pulled Ushuriel and entered with him in that hole - he was going to hide the Vampire in the attic, away from all light.

On the meantime, Kimi was already standing next to Melchior, Maya and Altagracia. Mirabelle looked at Kimi and her countenance went serene.

"I remember you..." She said. "You are the child of... Arievelo?"

Kimi nodded affirmatively.

"I am one of them." Ice Guardian replied. "I am Kimi. I don't know if you remember which was which."

Mirabelle's countenance went sad with Kimi's words. She then looked at Melchior.

"I don't think we'll continue this conversation, Melchior."

She turned her back to him and headed inside the house. Never in his life had Elemental Alchemist felt so angry; he sat on the floor in a meditation position, ready to get this conversation to another level.

"Oh, you are so continuing this conversation, Mirabelle!" He hissed. "Dream Walk Path!"

Mirabelle screamed, falling on her knees. Kimi went after her, and realized her eyes got completely golden, and so did Melchior's. Altagracia and Maya ran towards Melchior and started yelling at him and shaking his arms in a attempt to wake him up, but Ice Guardian thought differently.

"It is useless, girls." He said. "Stop what you are doing and head back inside."

"What?! No way!" Maya denied. "He needs help, Kimi!"

"No." Kimi replied. "He doesn't. He is inside Mirabelle's mind."

"What?!" Altagracia asked. "How?!"

"Dream Walking." Ice Guardian said, reflexive. "It is an elvish ability. Melchior seemed, however, to have developed it. Either he was born with a trace of this ability... Or it was given to him."

Kimi stood in silence for a while; memories started to come into his mind. The answer lied in Deeper Finland somehow. The answer for that question - how Melchior got into Mirabelle's mind - lied in the only cruel, reckless act Kimi ever committed.

"Cody Maverick's Soul Essence!" He shouted. "This is it! Girls!" He looked at Maya and Altagracia. "Let's head inside! Thalas must be with Ushuriel by now! Let's aid both of them - Ushuriel may need some medicine and health care. I'll bring Melchior inside! He must not be so exposed to sunlight!"

***

Mirabelle's Mind

Inside Mirabelle's mind, Melchior was before a much different scenario - it was a Scottish forest, in which most of its leaves were golden or brown, as if it was autumn. Mirabelle saw a golden leaf flying near her, and she got it.

Melchior was standing there, amazed by the beauty shown by Mirabelle's mind. The shy, yet warm sun rays were caressing his copper skin so gently that he forgot he was half Vampire, even if it was for a brief moment.

"Wow! I wasn't expecting that!" He said.

"Well... You want answers, don't you?" Mirabelle said. "Very well... I'll give them to you. After all, you have turned the table and chased me down to the deepest part of my mind."

She played with the golden leaf while talking to Melchior incredibly sad.

"When I found out about you, I wanted to die." She said. "Actually, I found myself dead, for I was going to be hunted down for having a deeper relationship with a servant and getting pregnant of him. I was conceiving a creature - you - which would possibly condemn both kinds. At first, I tried to get rid of you: I tried to create anti-conceptional spells to hurt and kill you. I almost got myself killed too, Melchior."

Elemental Alchemist looked to the ground - would he ever be loved someday?

"However..." Mirabelle said. "I started to grow fond of you day by day. Every time I tried to kill you, Ushuriel stopped me. He prevented my death and yours several times; he kept me fed, warm and protected at night. People say Vampires are heartless, soulless creatures, and I respond to them: nonsense. Ushuriel has far more soul and heart than any living human I ever knew. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be having this conversation..."

Melchior was looking through Mirabelle's eyes, sharing the same sadness the Warlock was feeling. Mirabelle looked to the ground and dropped the golden leaf in the air, letting it fall gently on the ground.

"I want to know why, Mirabelle." Melchior said with his eyes full of tears he didn't want to cry. "Why did you abandon me? Why Lucia? Why?"

Mirabelle looked at Melchior once more and sighed. He could feel her pain in the air. He could feel her heart beating as if it was trapped in chains.

"Before the abandonment, I have to explain Lucia's story." Mirabelle said. "I met Lucia five or seven years prior to your birth. I believe she has almost fifty years, I am right?"

"Yes..." Melchior hesitantly answered.

"Well, I met her years ago..." Mirabelle said. "Lucia hates magic because it was magic which brought her so much pain. She loved once. She hoped once. She fell in love with a Warlock, whose name I don't recall, and he betrayed her. He got her pregnant and she tried to denounce us to the Shamans; she almost did it, and a battle between Shamans and Warlocks had been fought in Belize. Many Shamans perished, and Lucia got cursed - her first child, which was a boy - died in the labor. She never forgave our kind for it, but she couldn't avoid being hunted down by many Warlocks - except me. I saved her life and I swore to give her my male infant, if I ever had one."

"So... Was Lucia some kind of a Rumpelstiltskin?" Melchior asked quite confused.

"Not exactly." Mirabelle replied. "See, she never forced me to hold to my oath. In fact, it came the time she almost forgot it, for she fell in love with a regular human, married and had her own offspring - your foster siblings, of course. I've got to say your Dream Walking abilities impressed me - you must be very cherished by the Elves to have that power."

"Wait, what? Do you know something about Dream Walking?!" Melchior asked, surprised.

"It isn't the first time you use it as well, isn't it?" Mirabelle asked. "I bet you used this ability on Ushuriel, am I right?"

"Wow..." Melchior replied. "Nothing escapes your perception..."

"Nothing indeed." Mirabelle agreed. "The reason I recall that Kimi kid and I know a thing or maybe ten about Dream Walking are completely related. See, I bet that, in Ushuriel's mind, you saw the manor we used to live, which was somewhere between Vantaa and Helsinki, in Finland. You were born in that house, Melchior. I chose Finland to live just because of Dream Walking. I wanted to learn a new, unique and powerful skill other Warlocks would never dream of possessing, and so was it. I went to Finland to learn it from the Elves themselves. They allowed me to learn with the condition I'd never jeopardize their holdings. In order to do my part of the deed, I kept my house near their borders, on the surface, hidden in the woods of Finland. There, I kept studying..."

She got two steps closer to Melchior, yet keeping a distance.

"... But something happened." She said, serious and quite grin. "Someone framed me and Ushuriel, and still I don't know why. The worst part of it: I discovered it in the day I was having you."

"Oh God..." Melchior commented.

"It was the coldest day I've ever witnessed in Finland." She said. "I remember I started the labor process during the day and it advanced faster than i could predict. Ushuriel was going to wake up only at the beginning of the night, so I was vulnerable. I woke him up with my screams of pain, I recall it pretty well. As soon as the sun set, I heard his steps coming from the basement. I remember I was already lying on the bed, hoping you'd be born as soon as possible, for when he came into my room, he said he had seen some kind of a Holy Inquisition coming after us!"

"Though we are creatures of Darkness, this seems extremely coward." Melchior said. "You were in labor after all."

Mirabelle's eyes discretely widened.

"Well... I agree with you." She said. "I remember him closing all windows and leaving everything as dark as he could. It was only Ushuriel there to help me - he helped me bringing you to this world. When he put you in my arms, I... I don't know... I felt... Lighter, of course, but... I felt something else..."

Melchior just looked at her a bit confused.

"You were much healthier and cuter than I expected, I confess." Mirabelle said with a discrete smile. "Your cry was strong and your looks were so curious - you seemed so fascinated with the fact you were born that you didn't cry too much. Unfortunately, the Holy Inquisition was just a few meters away from our manor. Yet I was weak, I had to save us. So, at that moment, I used an Invisibility spell and hid the entire house from them. Mirabelle looked at Melchior, who said nothing. The tears rolling through his face spoke enough for him.

"Forgive me, Melchior..." Mirabelle whispered, begging for his forgiveness.

Melchior closed his eyes and sighed.

"We end this conversation here."

Melchior left through the front door. He passed through Mirabelle who looked at him with the saddest countenance one could ever give...
